Congrats to Fergal and Jim on their wins

Members of the club competed in the recently held John Doheny Memorial Shield 2023, and two came away with awards.

Fergal O’Callaghan competed in the Advanced section and came in third place with his photo of the Fisherman’s Cottage in Connemara.

Jim Rocks came joint first place in the Non-Advanced section with a long exposure shot of waves crashing on rocks just offshore.

Well done, both of you. Lovely and inspiring shots. We all need to get out more with our cameras!

You will find the other winning images on the SACC Facebook page here.

A video showing all entries has been prepared by Mark Gorman and is well worth a watch.

A Trip to Owenahincha

Members of the club travelled to Owenahincha beach last Thursday night for some seascape photography. Conditions did not look good at first, with a blank cover of fog and white cloud overhead but as sunset approached the skies cleared enough to reveal some colour to be seen.

Thanks to Jayne, Catherine, Henry, Rory and Tadhg for the great photos!

The View from Bell’s Field

The club visited Bell’s Field at the top of Patrick’s Hill where we took photos of the North Side of the city, and waited in hope for the cloud on the horizon to clear to capture the sun setting. Unfortunately, it was not to be, but we had a great time meeting up.

Here are a few photos from Jim Rocks, Pat Kelleher, Tadhg Hurley, Donncha O Caoimh, Rory O Connor, Fergal O’Callaghan, Ger Walsh and Catherine Duggan.

A visit to Waterloo

We visited the nearby Waterloo Church and round tower on Thursday night on a beautiful sunny evening, with barely a cloud in the sky. Our objective was to show off the fabulous work the Waterloo Renewal Group have carried out in the area.

Waterloo didn’t disappoint those who travelled, as they got to appreciate the beauty on our own doorstep.

The club couldn’t have got a better evening to see Waterloo at it’s finest.

It’s nights like these you get to see how the Club is part of our community. Capturing and showcasing the moments and places that matter.

Special acknowledgment to the Waterloo Renewal Group, who work tirelessly throughout the year to make the area such a picturesque place that we can all enjoy. So much work goes on behind the scenes.
